Are there any religions created by the poor for the poor?

We hear religions talking about the merits of being poor, have any poor people founded religions, or was it just from rich people who decided they were bored with riches and sought something else. Buddhism is based on a Prince, Jesus was called the King of the Jews and even if born in a barn was of the Royal family of King David. Mohammed was from a merchants family. Roman Emperors were synonymous with Gods. Hinduism has an elite priest caste. So were there any religions created by the poor and for the poor?
