A question about setting up a merchant account?

I need to set up a merchant account for my online business. I originally set up my business as a sole proprieter, but plan to change it to an LLC. Will I need to first change the structure of my business before opening up a merchant account, or can I wait to change it until after I open a merchant account and start selling online?
