I am a merchant navy officer from india having sailed on an aframax oil tanker in d capacity of 3rd officer fo?

in d capacity of 3rd officer for 8.5 months i have a gap of 2 yrs after that so now i am looking 2 join back again but principles think this gap is too much so what should i do 2 save my career????pls. advice.
