Is Kingston University a future top 25 institute or just another mediocre former-polytechnic ambling along?

I have recently accepted a place at Kingston University to do a post-graduate course. The faculty for my course are very impressive and I know that I will have a good and productive time there. However in recent league tables the university has been ranked between 88 (the complete university guide) and 97 (The Times university guide) - which obviously I am a bit disturbed by especially as it has embarked on a massive spending spree to improve the place - apparently with no results?! So people in the know please tell me; Is this place any good and will it become any good? Thanks.
