Is it possible to slave a SSD to HDD?

I'm planning on building my own computer and I'm wondering if I could slave a SSD to a HDD that way I could keep important system files and permanent programs on the SSD and "silly stuff" on the HDD so i can avoid memory degradation on the SSD while rocking the SSD's boosted load times.
